Yes, Speeco is free for personal use and you won't have to register it after xx days.
The main reason of releasing it as a freeware was that I could not find an application of the same type in the Internet which would be absolutely free and which would have the features that Speeco has.
In what ways Speeco differs from other speech recognition tools? There are many speech recognition utilities on the Internet that are inexpensive, but in my opinion most of them is written badly or they offer lots of features that could be easily incorporated into one or two.
For example, the Speeco Keyboard feature lets you send any key sequence into a window of your choice, but I found many apps that were proud of providing features like "Press Enter" or "Press ESC". I found them quite useless.
Going further, if you wish to have access to any of your applications rapidly, place a shortcut to this app in a special Speeco folder located on your desktop instead of going through a dialog-boxed procedure every time you wish to add another app of your choice.
Using Speeco is really simple! All you have to do is check a feature that you are particulary interested in, like the Speeco Mouse feature and start using it by saying i.e "move left" or "jump up".
What languages are supported by Speeco?Speeco currently supports English. Speeco uses speech recognition engine provided by Microsoft. Due to limitations of this engine other languages are not supported.
Future implementations of Speeco will be language-independent and will not depend on SAPI.
Who is the author of Speeco?Speeco was written in C# and its source code is maintained by Miroslaw Sztramski (that's me). I wrote Speeco during my free time to get to know with the latest programming tools.
Where can I download the source code of Speeco? You can't. Although Speeco is free - it is currently a closed source project. However, Speeco source code will be released at the proper time.
How can I contribute to the project? If you wish to contribute - tell others about Speeco and tell me what you think of it. You may of course place a link to Speeco homepage on your website or wherever you are allowed to do so.
If you find Speeco useful, but in your opinion it lacks a chosen feature give it a try and send me your ideas.
If that's not a problem to you, please make a small donation to help me keep this project up and running!
Does it run on Windows Vista?Vista is not supported as for now, mostly because I have not got a Vista-capable machine nor the Vista itself. If you would like to make it available on Vista, support the idea by making a donation.
Speeco crashed unexpectedly, now what?Speeco is not bug free! If you find a bug that I am not aware of send me a note. If it ever crashes, a file debug.log will be automatically created in Speeco installation directory and you should send it as well.
I'll try to fix the problem as soon as possible and update the Speeco executable as well as the whole installation package.
