1. Opening of the meeting

After Retina International meeting with Christina Fasser on Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. the meeting of REY was hold in the rooms of Makuhari Prince Hotel in Chiba, Japan . On 8:00 a.m a breakfast with most of the young people was arranged in the hotel before the meeting in order to know each other. The chairman, Markus Georg, welcomed the participants to the third REY meeting which was planed shortly. Unfortunately not all members of REY were able to participate RI congress in Japan. Some Other countries which were in Japan did not found the time to visit REY meeting while the official congress was going on. With these countries, especially Sweden (CAISA RAMSHAGEN) and Greece (STRATIS CHADZICHARALABOUS) were REY topics discussed during the congress.

All the participants of the meeting introduced themselves.

2. Cancellation of Retina Europe Youth Meeting and camp in Frankfurt in August 2002

Markus Georg informed the participants that the planed REY meeting as well as the camp must be cancelled. The events were arranged for 18.-23. August for the camp and 23.-25. August for REY meeting in Frankfurt, Germany. As reason he mentioned the small number of participants. Only Greece, Switzerland, Poland and Germany signed for meeting, This means only 8 persons for REY meeting which effects:

He was upset of the cancellation because a lot of efforts were already invested by some people for preparation of this events.

Everything was according to REY decisions last year in Poland, i.e. the date after RI meeting in August after RI congress, combination between meeting and camp, and more RP related topics (research, etc.)

3. REY Magazine

The first Retina Youth magazine was proudly presented by Retina Nederland represented by Nathalie van der Wiel. This magazine is a small booklet DIN A4 and is currently available only in printed form. It starts with a short introduction of RI and the portrait of the youth groups in Europe, at least they have sent their report to the contact person in the Netherlands as agreed in our previous meetings and correspondence. Some photos and of course mails from our retinayouth mailing list liven up the magazine. Reports of last and coming events of REY are part of first issu.

All participants of youth meeting as well as interested participants of RI congress received a copy. The countries who did not send any report to Jacqueline or Nathalie van der Wiel are requested to send material for next issue of Retina Youth magazine to them. It was agreed to prepare the next issue in electronical form. This enable to read it with screenreader, etc.

Furthermore a electronical form make the distribution much more easier.

Simone Brucker offered her help to the Netherlands, because she already made with German youth magazine "Durchblick" a lot of experiences.

There was no further discussion to find an adequate name for youth magazine which should be funny but serious and related to eye, sight, view or something else. In the next edition of "Retina Youth Magazine" we can ask for any proposals as discussed in Warsaw.

The distribution will be made from the Netherlands to the domestic RP society and REY contact persons in those countries they exist already. These are responsible for forwarding to the young people in their countries. Same apples with collection of different articles and forwarding them to Jacqueline.

4. Mailing List

It was decided to invite all youngsters worldwide to subscribe to retinayouth mailing list.

This will stimulate the community because currently it is to quiet on the mailing list.

The less action was explained with summer time and other interests of young people.

5. Logo of REY

Logo of REY

Pawel Zadrozny (Poland) was so kind to send some (4) proposals of a logo for REY, designed by Piotr S. Krol, a time ago by email. A decision should be made on next REY meeting which Frankfurt was supposed to be. We used the opportunity of REY meeting in Japan to choose a.m. logo as official logo for REY.

It was pointed out if any day a youth group outside Europe will be founded (i.e. Asia) they could easily modify if for their purposes.

6. Camp (Offer from Greece)

Beside the RI congress the president of Greek RP Society offered to have again a camp in Greece this autumn. Last year the camp was organized on a small island named Skopelos and was very good. For this year he advised that the camp would be possible in Skopelos, Samos or in the countryside close to Athens. As per Stratis all further details will be clarified on the mailing list by Kiki Plessa.

7. Next meeting

It was discussed to hold the REY meeting in future only in combination with RE meeting every two years. There would be a lot of advantages.

In the years if no RE meeting is hold a camp like last year in Skopelos could be hold.

The next meeting of RE would be in spring time in Paris. Markus Georg will ask Lise Wagner from France to clarify some details.

8. Closing of the meeting

On Sunday at 11.00 a.m., the chair thanked the participants for their active interest on the short dated meeting. It was finished with a photo shooting in front of the hotel and everybody went to the RI congress.
