The Foundation of Disabled People's Art has been established in 1991 and began an
official life in Krakow to support all sorts of creativity among disabled, both amateur and
professional. Wojciech Tatarczuch, a journalist very involved in such an activity was the main author of the Foundation programme. In the field of the
Foundation's activities is several thousand disabled people in entire
Poland, not counting the audience of artistic events and readers of
publications.
In 2006 the
Pro Publico Bono Contest Foudation*) awarded the Foundation the first prize in
the category of Culture and National Heritage for the idea and successful organization
of nine editions of the International Biennial of Disabled People's Fine Arts. The
Biennial appears as a specific event. High level of presented works and almost
global reach, found the universal recognition. At the end of 2016 already fourteenth
has been held. But besides
this cyclical event an everyday job is also important: | ||
*) The Pro Publico Bono Contest Foundation was
created, whose initiators were: Jan Nowak-Jeziorański and laureates of
the jubilee contest, Izabela Dzieduszycka and Krzysztof Pawłowski.
Prof. Andrzej Zoll, the Polish Ombudsman who due to his statutory
duties was particularly obliged to supporting civic societies, joined
the initiative. Polish-American Freedom Foundation
is the main sponsor of the awards in the contest. The Foundation's
Committee is created by: prof. Jerzy Buzek – the chairman of the
Foundation's Committee, Ms. Agnieszka Bogucka, Ms. Izabela
Dzieduszycka, famous composer - prof. Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Mr. Jerzy
KoĽmiński, dr. Krzysztof Pawłowskki, prof. Andrzej Stelmachowski, prof.
Andrzej Zoll, untill January 2006 in the Foundation's Committee
outstanding poet - sat rev. Jan Twardowski. |
