Profiles: Victor I.

Victor I. is a 42 years old Polish ranger. In 1976 at the age of 19 he experienced a severe head injury with a mild commotion cerebri. Soon after he developed a bad cold and first neurological symptoms of dizziness and overwhelming weakness. He was diagnosed with some mysterious disease and treated with sulfonamides. Both symptoms lasted about six hours only. Since that time similar episodes have repeated many times. Each time neurological symptoms used to come together with cold. Victor became interested in it. He started to study influence of both: his body, and environmental cold connection with neurological symptoms.

In November 1977 again, after exposure to a low temperature, he developed numbness in one foot followed by left optic neuritis. He recovered from both.
In 1979 yet another exposure to cold ended up with numbness in his feet and weakness in both legs and did not improve completely. In 1980, after another exposure to cold, he experienced an increased weakness in his lower extremities coupled with some sensory deficit starting from T10 level. In October 1981 he developed weakness of his left foot increasing to paralysis with fatigue. In 1982 he was diagnosed with MS and first time treated with Dexamethasone. He was hospitalized several times: in 1986, then in 1990 due to double vision, weakness and numbness. He was treated with steroids, each time with some improvement.
In 1992 first time he had physical rehabilitation including body massage and acupressure. He improved again.

Besides, Victor started his own study of vibration medicine as well as Mind/Body Medicine, and practiced both on his own. In his book Victor writes: "Mind is responsible for health and for disease". He adds: "There is no proof that acupuncture slows down MS nor that it can decrease frequency of MS relapses, but this four thousand years old Chinese method of treatment helped some Persons with MS". Victor had only five sessions and  noticed some improvement.

Victor emphasizes an importance of systematic active physical rehabilitation that mobilizes psychological motivation as well. In 1996 Victor was for the first time treated at the National MS Rehabilitation Center in Dabek. Here he was able to drop his long lasting habit of cigarette smoking, deadly discouraged at Dabek.

Victor, basing on his own experience, has been promoting multidimensional management of MS. It includes healthy nutrition, vitamin supplements, abstinence from smoking and alcohol drinking, physiotherapy, electrical stimulation, psychotherapy, magnetotherapy, and an occasional treatment with steroids. All these methods, taken as a whole, can successfully improve an overall body function. Lack of harmony and coordination of central and autonomic nervous systems, endocrine system and lymphatic system can be improved with healthy nutrition. All this is very complicated and very difficult to be proved. For this reason Victor thinks that everyone should learn on these issues as much as possible and then decide on his/her own what to do.

Victor is planning some sessions with an energotherapist. He believes that subtle energies of the human body may play an important role in disease and in health. He is convinced that each Person with MS should do everything to fight for his/her health. Victor does not believe in incurable diseases and is sure that some day we will be able to eliminate MS. Most likely, at that time we will have another misery disease in this world.
