The Military Boarding House „Kościelisko”
XI Chess Olympiad for the Blind will take place in the
Military Boarding House "Kościelisko". It is located in Kościelisko
at an altitude of 930 m above sea level, in a natural park with species of
trees characteristic of Tatra region. The centre of Zakopane is just 5 km from
the house. Accommodation for over 500 guests can be arranged in the house. It
has rooms of different standards. Tourists who come here can choose a
comfortable apartment for 2 or 4 persons, a room for 2, 3 or 4 persons with
kitchen, bathroom and tv, or normal rooms for tourists. The price for renting a
room includes all meals and an opportunity of spending time actively. Numerous
excursions (by coach and on foot) to different parts of Tatra and Pieniny are
organized. You cannot find such attractive prices for all-year accommodation in
any resting house in Zakopane and Podhale!
Near the
house there is a park with alleys, a fountain, and on the campus, before the
main building, there is a tennis court, sports ground, playground for children,
library, coffee house, drink bar, shop, solarium, fitness room, hairdresser,
and parking space (supervised and not supervised).
Thanks
to its large size, MBH "Kościelisko" is also the best in Podhale in
terms of conditions and equipment appropriate for organizing scientific
conferences, training courses, symposia, discussions, sessions, congresses, and
cultural events. All these things are very important for the boarding house. In
Zakopane and its regions there are not any big objects of such a kind which
would be able to accommodate a group consisting of several hundred people at
one time.
MBH "Kościelisko" belongs to the Military
Recreational Centre "Zakopane" in which between the World War I and
II lived such people as Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Henryk Sienkiewicz, and Ignacy
Paderewski. During last years presidents of the Polish Republic lived here too.
In Military Recreational Centre "Zakopane"
many important national and international conferences have been organized in
which famous politicians, scientists, and cultural activists participated. The
buildings of the MRC (MBH "Kościelisko", MBH "Salamandra",
MBH "Przyjaźń") also enabled accommodation and service of the most
important sport events: European biathlon championships, Winter olympic games
for Special Schools, world chess championships, and winter universiade planned
for 2001.
